Abstract
This research was carried out to determine the effect of electrode type on the rate of corrosion in the Heat Affected Zone resulting from welding ST 37 steel with variations in current and acid solution media. This research is of the type, experimental research in which treatment is carried out by welding on ST 37 steel with electrode types E6013 and E7013 and varying currents of 90 A, 100 A, 110 A and with acetic acid solution as the medium. Results and conclusions regarding the influence of electrode type on the corrosion rate in the HAZ resulting from SMAW welding with varying currents and acid solution media. There are results from the corrosion rate in the HAZ from SMAW welding using E6013 and E7013 electrodes and varying current variations. The lowest corrosion rate was in specimen 6 with electrode type E7013 with a current variation of 110 A with a corrosion rate of 0.727576 mpy. The highest corrosion rate is found in specimen 5 with electrode type E6013 with a current variation of 110 A with a corrosion rate of 2.928266 mpm. In conclusion, there is an influence of the type of electrode on the corrosion rate in the heat affected zone with different current variations.
