Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between stunting and the symbolic thinking ability of children aged 5-6 years in PAUD Ceria, Kertapati District, Palembang City and what is the level of strength of the relationship between stunting and the symbolic thinking ability of children aged 5-6 years in PAUD Ceria, Kertapati City District Palembang. The method used in this research is quantitative correlative. The population in this study was all 35 Ceria PAUD children aged 5-6 years. The sample selection technique uses a purposive sampling technique, with considerations based on child health data tests. Data collection techniques in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. To test the hypothesis, researchers used the Spearman Rank Correlation Test because the data obtained was not normally distributed, so they used a nonparametric test. Based on the calculations that have been carried out, it is found that the calculated value (0,152) < the table rₛ value (0,618), then Ho is accepted. Based on the guidelines for the level of close relationship between variables, 0.152 is categorized as a very weak relationship. This means that the relationship between stunting and the symbolic thinking ability of children aged 5-6 years in PAUD Ceria Palembang City is very weak / not significant.
