Abstract

Breast cancer is a chronic disease whose the management is often involves mastectomy, so causing significant physical changes in patients and impacting their body image. One effort to improve patient body image is through education. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of smart card educational media on body image in post-mastectomy breast cancer patients. This research used a pre-experimental quantitative design with a one-group pretest-posttest method. The research sample consisted of 30 respondents who had undergone mastectomy and experienced body image disturbances, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The intervention was carried out using smart cards in two groups with the Body Image Scale questionnaire instrument from the CRC Psychological Medicine Group to measure self-perception, self-confidence and satisfaction to physical appearance before and after the intervention. Data analysis was carried out using the McNemar test which showed a significant improvement in the body image of breast cancer patients after intervention with smart card media with p value = 0.000 (p value < 0.05). The results of this research can help nurses in choose effective educational methods to improve patient body image, and as well as being an important reference for further research. Keywords: Breast cancer, body image, smart card Kanker payudara merupakan penyakit kronis yang penatalaksanaannya sering melibatkan mastektomi sehingga menyebabkan perubahan fisik signifikan pada pasien dan berdampak pada citra tubuh mereka. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan citra tubuh pasien adalah melalui edukasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media edukasi kartu pintar terhadap citra tubuh pada pasien kanker payudara post mastektomi. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuantitatif pre-eksperimental dengan metode onegroup pretest-posttest. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 30 responden yang telah menjalani mastektomi dan mengalami gangguan citra tubuh, dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Intervensi dilakukan menggunakan media kartu pintar pada dua kelompok dengan instrumen kuesioner Body image Scale dari CRC Psychological Medicine Group untuk mengukur persepsi diri, rasa percaya diri, dan kepuasan terhadap penampilan fisik sebelum dan sesudah intervensi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji McNemar yang menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada citra tubuh pasien kanker payudara setelah intervensi dengan media kartu pintar dengan p value = 0.000 (p value < 0.05). Hasil penelitian ini dapat membantu perawat dalam memilih metode edukasi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan citra tubuh pasien, serta menjadi referensi penting bagi penelitian lanjutan.
