Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the response of giving sulfur and organic fertilizers optimally to King Grass Production as Ruminant Feed. This research was conducted from January to June 2005 at Balai Pembibitan Ternak Unggul Sapi Dwiguna dan Ayam, Sembawa. This research using completely randomized design factorial mode with 2 factors as treatments; organic and sulful fertilizers. First factor was organic fertilizers which di vide into 3 level; 0 ton/ha (K0), 5 ton/ha (Kl) and 10 ton/ha (K2). Second factor was sulfur fertilizers which divide into 4 level; 0 kg/ha (S0), 30 kg/ha (SI), 60 kg/ha (S2) and 90 kg/ha (S3). It comprises of 12 treatments with 3 groups so there are 36 treatments units. Data were tested using analysis of variance and Least Significant Different Test to examine it’s diference. Observed parameters were production of fresh weight, root dry weight and production of dry weight. The result was showed that organic fertilizers has significant effect (P<0,05) on production of fresh weight and dry weight, while on root diy weight nonsignificant (P>0,05). Sulfur fertilizers and its interaction had non significant effect (P>0,05) to all parameters. Highest production of fresh weight achieved by 10 ton/ha organic fertilizers treatment; 2020,557 g/clump while highest root dry weight and production of dry weight achieved by 10 ton/ha organic fertilizers treatment; 17,7 g/clump and 33,37 g respectively. Giving 10 ton/ha organic fertilizers had significant result (P<0,05) to king grass dry weight production, it has highest production, 730,32 g. Higher organic fertilizers would increase production of fres and dry weight of king grass.
