Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of substitution of local rations and commercial rations on the percentage of carcasses and slices of commercial carcasses of ULU native chickens. This research was conducted in September-November 2023 in the experimental cage of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Department of Animal Husbandry Technology and Industry. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and each treatment consisted of 4 replicates using 80 ULU native chicken DOC and reared for 10 weeks. The treatments used are local rations consisting of bread flour, fish flour and soy sauce pulp and commercial rations that will be given BR 1 from PT. Japfa, with the following treatments: P0 = 100% Local Ration, P1 = 75% Local Ration + 25% Commercial Ration, P2 = 50% Local Ration + 50% Commercial Ration, P3 = 25% Local Ration + 75% Commercial Ration, P4 = 100% Commercial Ration. Parameters observed included carcass percentage and commercial carcass slices of ULU native chickens. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) in accordance with the design used, if there is a significant difference then it will be continued with Duncant's Multi Range (DMRT) further test. The results of this study showed that the substitution of local rations and commercial rations had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the percentage of carcasses which ranged from 58.00%-62.13% and commercial carcass slices of breast, thigh and wing parts. the average percentage of thigh carcass slices ranged from 24.44%-27.49%, the average percentage of thigh carcass slices ranged from 33.52%-35.15%, and the average percentage of carcass slices was 12.62%-14.91%. The conclusion of this study shows that the substitution of local rations and commercial rations can increase the percentage of carcasses and the percentage of commercial carcass slices with a level of 25% local rations giving the best results on increasing the percentage of carcasses and the percentage of commercial carcass slices of ULU native chickens.
