Abstract
MENSTRUATION IS A MONTHLY PHYSIOLOGICAL PROCESS IN WOMEN THAT INVOLVES THE DISCHARGE OF BLOOD AND TISSUE FROM THE UTERUS AS PART OF THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE. THE UTILIZATION OF MHEALTH TECHNOLOGY (MOBILE-BASED HEALTH APPLICATIONS) AND EDUCATION THROUGH MOBILE TECHNOLOGY PROMOTES THE ADVANCEMENT OF MENSTRUAL HEALTH LITERACY. ONE OF THE APPLICATIONS CIRCULATING IN THE COMMUNITY IS THE PERIOD TRACKER APP DEVELOPED BY SIMPLE DESIGN LTD. BASED ON REVIEWS OF THE PERIOD TRACKER MOBILE APPLICATION ON THE PLAY STORE, SOME USERS HAVE PROVIDED NEGATIVE FEEDBACK LEADING TO ONE CONCLUSION: THE APP IS NOT USER-FRIENDLY. THE USER INTERFACE (UI) AND USER EXPERIENCE (UX) ARE SIGNIFICANT FACTORS FOR AN APPLICATION BECAUSE WHAT USERS PAY ATTENTION TO ARE THE APPEARANCE AND FUNCTIONALITY PROVIDED. PERIOD TRACKER NEEDS A USER-FRIENDLY DESIGN RECOMMENDATION OR UI PROTOTYPE. TO ACHIEVE THIS TARGET, TASK-CENTERED SYSTEM DESIGN (TCSD) IS THE CHOSEN METHOD TO FOCUS THE DESIGN PROCESS. THE RESULTING UI DESIGN WILL BE EVALUATED USING THE SYSTEM USABILITY SCALE (SUS) AND HEURISTIC EVALUATION. THESE TWO METHODS ARE CONSIDERED QUITE GOOD, SO RESEARCHERS OFTEN RECOMMEND A COMBINATION OF SUS AND HEURISTIC EVALUATION. BASED ON THE HEURISTIC EVALUATION RESULTS, THE APP DESIGN IS RATED WITH HIGH USABILITY RATINGS, ACHIEVING A SCORE OF 0 ON ALL INSTRUMENTS. THE TOTAL SUS SCORE IS 91 WITH A GRADE OF A, AND IT FALLS INTO THE “ACCEPTABLE” CATEGORY BASED ON ACCEPTABILITY RANGES. THESE RESULTS SHOW A HIGH LEVEL OF ACCEPTANCE AND USER SATISFACTION WITH THE REDESIGNED PERIOD TRACKER APP.
