Abstract
This research aims to determine the performance of a sliding blade at various cutting angles and types of material on work capacity and efficiency using cassava, sweet potato and taro materials. Research was conducted from June 2024 to July at the Agricultural Machinery and Workshop Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The method used in this research is a descriptive method with data displayed in table form to explain the causal relationship of the influence of cutting angle treatment and type of material on work capacity and efficiency in the process of chopping into chips. This research was carried out three times in repetition with treatments, namely cutting angle 00 , cutting angle 400 and materials namely cassava, sweet potato and taro. The results of observations and testing of research implementation obtained data collection on main and supporting parameters. The main parameter data that has been obtained is the working capacity and efficiency of the chopper, while the supporting data is rotation resistance and the weight of the chips produced. Based on research that has been carried out, using a cutting angle of 400 in the chopping process produces a good capacity, namely 10.90 kg/hour, while the lowest working capacity value is obtained by treating a cutting angle of 00 , namely 10.42 kg/hour. The highest efficiency was obtained by treatment with a cutting angle of 400 , namely 83%, while the lowest efficiency value was obtained by treatment with a cutting angle of 00 , namely 79%. The work capacity resulting from the treatment of each type of material is cassava 11.60 kg/hour, sweet potato 10.65 kg/hour and taro 9.72 kg/hour. The highest work efficiency was obtained by treatment with sweet potato, namely 89%, while the lowest work efficiency value was obtained by treatment with taro, namely 75%.
