Abstract

Feeding behavior carried out by parents plays an important role in fulfilling children's nutritional needs. This behavior includes how to serve food, considering the nutritional content contained in food and eating time habits. One of the factors that causes nutritional problems in children is that parents' ability to fulfilling their children's nutritional needs often results in inappropriate feeding practices, therefore affecting the child's nutritional status. This research uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional study plan. The total population that is the subject of research in this thesis is 50 children, from this population samples were drawn using Purposive Sampling techniques so that the sample obtained was 47 children. Data analysis uses the Chi-Square Test. This research instrument uses a questionnaire that is filled out directly by the respondent and an observation sheet to measure anthropometry in children based on BB/TB.This study aims to analyze the relationship between feeding behavior with nutritional status of early childhood in Betuah Kindergarten Palembang City. From the calculation of the minimum sample, 47 samples were obtained and frequency of feeding practices was 22 (46.8%) mothers with poor feeding practices, 19 (40.4%) mothers with good feeding practices and 6 (12.8%) mothers with excellent feeding practices. The results of Chi Square analysis show P- value = 0.000 (P-value <0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between feeding behavior and the child's nutritional status (BB/TB) in the Multiwahana Health Center area, Sako City Palembang.
