Abstract
This research aims to determine the benefits of sugarcane bagasse for cultivating red lettuce crops and to determine the best combination of sugarcane bagasse dosage in increasing the growth and yield of red lettuce. This research was carried out on land located in the North Indralaya region (3°12'20"S 104°38'58"E) from 4 November to 8 January 2024. The research used a randomized block design with 9 treatments and 3 groups as replications. Each group contained 3 plants, so that the total plants were 81 plants. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, plant fresh weight and plant dry weight and plant water content. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that aplication of bagasse with a mixture of Biovitalik and EM4 did not have significant effect on the growth and yield variables of red lettuce plants that were observed. The treatment (P0) of a mixture of soil and manure without bagasse compost actually showed the best results. However, when compared between treatments given bagasse compost, the 1kg/polybag bagasse treatment given Biovitalik (treatment P4) had a better effect than the other treatments. The results of analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the parameters of plant height and leaf length were very significantly different, while the parameters of plant fresh weight were significantly different and the parameters of number of leaves and dry weight of plants were not significantly different. The results of the orthogonal contrast analysis showed that bagasse treated with Biovitalik was better than the EM4 on the growth and yield of red lettuce
