Abstract

Thermal energy is a form of energy formed in the earth's crust. The sun is one form of thermal energy that can be utilized by all living things. However, because the amount is limited and cannot be used continuously, alternative energy is needed that can be used as a means of generating electrical energy, namely solar or solar energy. In everyday life there are appliances that use electricity in hospitals, household appliances, and offices that can be used. For example, in hospitals, hospital equipment that uses electricity, one of which is a medical device sterilization machine. Sterilization is the process of killing all types of living organisms contained in an object with the aim of eliminating or killing microorganisms. The method used is the dry heat method on a sterilization machine with temperature ±170ºC for one hour. With this large temperature emitting heat on the outside of the sterilizer, this study utilizes the heat in the sterilization machine as a battery charging to turn on the lights using the help of thermoelectric generator technology. From experiments that have been carried out, the thermoelectric generator used is able to produce enough power to turn on the lights on portable medical device sterilization machines based on research data used to produce power in wet batteries of 0.84846 watts and 1.1191 watts in dry batteries. This means that the tool that has been made is able to turn on the lights with a battery charged by a thermoelectric generator.
