Abstract

Tiktok is one of the most popular social media among students today. Students use Tik Tok as a means to demonstrate their self-existence and social life. Adolescence is an age where you need recognition from other people. Therefore. Tiktok has become a medium for students to seek recognition from other people. The purpose of this research is to determine the use of social media Tiktok as a self-existence for Sriwijava University students. The theoretical basis used in this research is the Symbolic Interactionism Theory of George Herbet Mead. The research method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive research method. The results of this research found that students use Tik Tok social media as a means of self-existence. When using Tik Tok social media, students already have a concept that they will use. One indicator that shows the existence of an informant is the number of other users watching and the number of likes and comments on the informant's posts. The types of content uploaded by informants are varied, mostly trending content. Students will see their whereabouts, along with their existence on Tiktok social media.
