Abstract

One of the factors causing work accidents is caused by unsafe actions. Unsafe actions are influenced by both internal and external factors of the worker. The aim of this research is to determine factors associated with unsafe actions among palm oil processing workers at PT Green Global Sumatra, Musi Banyuasin. This type of research was carried out using quantitative methods with a cross-sectional study design and total sampling. Data collection was used using a questionnaire with a sample size of 50 respondents. The data obtained were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the chi square and Fisher exact tests. Bivariate results show that there is a significant relationship between attitude (p-value = 0.020) and supervision (p-value = 0.000) towards unsafe acts, however there is no relationship between age (p-value = 0.619), level of education (p-value = 0.275), knowledge (p-value = 0.249), use of PPE (p-value = 0.190) and availability of PPE (p-value = 0.442) regarding unsafe actions. It can be concluded that both internal factors (workers' attitudes) and external factors (supervision from the industry) are related to unsafe actions that may be carried out by workers. So, it is recommended to workers not to carry out unsafe actions in the workplace area and to always prioritize safety and health at work, and for companies to be more optimal in providing supervision, implementing rewards and punishment so that workers can avoid work accidents.
