Abstract
This research was conducted in order to study the water quality of nila fish (Oreochromis niloticus) rearing media in karamba which was feeded with elephant grass and kumpai grass food formulae with or without probiotic. The research has been done ffom February to March 2008 at Aquacultural Field Laboratory and the Aquacultural Basic Laboratory. The research was arranged according to completely randomized block design with six treatments and three replications. Three groups of fish sizes in this research were 13+1 g, 15+1 g, 19+1 g. The treatments were Pi (food formulae without grass), P2 (food formulae without grass but with probiotic enrichment), P3 (food formulae with kumpai grass), P4 (food formulae with kumpai grass and probiotic enrichment), P5 (food formulae with elephant grass), and P6 (food formulae with elephant grass and probiotic). The result of this research indicated that feeding with kumpai grass and elephant grass food formulae enriched with or without probiotics did not siqnificantly influence temperature, pH, alkalinity and nitrit content of rearing media. Feeding with kumpai grass and elephant grass food formulae enriched with or without probiotics siqnificantly influenced disssolved oxygen, carbondioxyde and ammonia content of rearing media.
