Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the efectivity of glyphosate which combined with urea and to know the correct mixture dosage in controling growth of weeds on oil palm plantation. The research was conducted from April until June 2004 at PT. Tania Selatan Group Bumai Timur Estate, Ogan Kemering Ilir Regency, South Sumatera. Randomized block design was applied with two factors. The first factor was three different dosage of glyphosate which were; 1 l.ha'1 (Gj), 1,5 l.ha"1, 2 l.ha"1 (G3) as the first factor, and urea as the second factor consist of three different dosage which were; without urea (Uq), 7,5 kg.ha"1 urea (Ui) and 15 kg.ha urea. The result showed that dominant weed on research location was Mikania micrantha (55,54 %). Glyphoshate application depressed dry weight of weeds. 2 l.ha-1 of herbicide (G3) gave the lowest dry weight of weeds. Glyphoshate dosages that used on this research causing no toxic symptom the oil palm plantation. Considering that the characteristic of inactive glyphosate in land and the application of herbicide was done directional at the gate of oil palm.
