Abstract

The objectives of this research was to observed the influence of plant number per hole and compound fertilizer on growth and production of blewah (Cucumis melo L.). The research was conducted at Research Station of Faculty of Agriculutre, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, from august 2004 to oktober 2004. The research was Randomized Complete Block Design with two factors and rephcated three times. The first factor was plant number per hole with four levels; one plant per hole (Tl), two plants per hole (T2), three plants per hole (T3) and four plants per hole (T4). The second factor was compound fertilizer (NPK 15:15:15) with three levels; 0 g (P 1), 40 g (P2) and 80 g (P3). The parameters observed in this research were branches length (cm), dry weight of plant (kg), flowering (day after planting), fruit weight (kg), firuit weight per plant (kg), fruit weight per planting hole (kg), fruit weight per block of research (kg), dissolved material (° Brix), fruit diameter (cm) and cropping index (%). The research result showed that treatment one plant number per hole and 40 g of compound fertilizer (T1P2) was different significant to average of fruit weight and fruie weight per plant
