Abstract
Indonesia has the potential to develop Solar Power Plants (PLTS), because it has a tropical climate that is illuminated by sunlight all year round. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of charging and discharging batteries as a substitute for electrical energy on a multi-storey building scale using rooftop solar panels. The type of study used is quantitative research. The data collection technique applied is literature study. The effectiveness of battery charging and discharging can be influenced by various factors, including cloudy weather which reduces the performance of solar panels. Home-scale rooftop panels have not been widely used by the public. This is due to various factors, one of which is the price of installing solar panels which is still expensive. Battery charging can be done optimally if the sun is hot. A battery discharge is capable of supplying lighting in the courtyard and garden of a multi-storey building for 12 hours.
