Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT)is a concept involving the connection of devices as internet-based communication media. Through IoT, users can connect and communicate to perform specific tasks, search for, process, and transmit information automatically. One environment where the Internet of Things is commonly implemented is the Smart Home, where devices consume a substantial amount of energy. This study analyzes the energy consumption of IoT devices in a smart home environment using the Markov Chain analysis method. The goal of this research is to predict the usage patterns of IoT devices and the state transitions that influence their energy consumption. Through the data analysis conducted, it was found that predicting device usage by users can be achieved using a Markov model. The findings indicate that the majority of users tend to use high-wattage devices simultaneously, with a rate of 75%, which leads to a significant increase in energy consumption, while the lowest usage, with a rate of only 5%, occurs in transitions from high-wattage states to idle states.
