Abstract

PT. Bayan Koalindo Lestari (BKL) is a coal mining company with an IUP area of 10,980 hectares. The mining area experienced a landslide in 2022 in the low wall production area. It is known that the type of avalanche that occurs is a bow avalanche, which occurs due to the presence of weak, weathered rocks or because of very difficult slope conditions. The main focus of this research is the application of slope stability based on the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 1827 K/30/MEM/2018. It is known based on the data of geotechnical drilling results in the research area consisting of several lithologies such as soil, clay, sandstone, mudstone and coal with various physical and mechanical properties. The analysis of actual safety factors for single and whole slopes in low wall areas based on the Bishop Method produces variable safety factor values and all results under landslide conditions (FK ≤ 1.3), so it requires modification of slope geometry for a more stable slope state. The design of recommendations related to the modification of slope geometry on a single slope is in the cross-section A – A' with h=10m, b=26m, α⁰=37⁰ the result of saturated FK = 1,418 (Safe). Meanwhile, the modification recommendations for the overall slope are in cross section A – A' with α⁰=13⁰ with saturated FK 1,329 (Safe), cross-section B – B' with α⁰=11⁰ with half-saturated FK = 2,218 (Safe) and saturated FK = 1,382 (Safe). By conducting a slope stability analysis in the low wall area, the potential for landslides can be identified so that appropriate preventive measures can be taken and the safety of workers and the continuity of mine operations can be maintained.
