Abstract

PT Berau Coal is a coal company operating in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan. PT Berau Coal is one of the largest coal producers in Indonesia. One of the mining areas is the Binungan Mine Operation 1 (BMO 1) site. This area has Coal Hauling activities on the ebony road that connects the Binungan and Suaran areas. The Binungan-Suaran Coal Hauling is approximately 28 KM from the KM 1 Binungan Coal Processing Plant (CPP) area to the Coal Processing Plant (CPP) at KM 28 Suaran. Challenge Inloading 2 at CPP KM 28 which was moved to the Gurimbang Mine Operation (GMO) site which was one of the causes of the large queue time at CPP KM 28 as well as the lack of change shift locations and rest areas at coal hauling Binsua which caused the large change shift time for Side Dump Trucks , this is one of the challenges to achieve the increase in production target at the Binungan site (BMO) from 14,500,000 tons to 15,600,000 tons in 2024. This research aims to reduce change shift delays and queues at KM 28 on side dump trucks to support achievement of production targets at coal hauling Binsua. Where the results of observations after improvements and monitoring were carried out using microsoft power BI for PT MTL change shift delays can be reduced from 1.32 hours/unit/day to 0.944 hours/unit/day with an increase in the UA value of 1.46% and PT BUMA reduced from 1.35 hours/ units/day to 1.18 hours/unit/day with an increase in UA of 0.87%, after carrying out strategies for limiting the time for side dump trucks entering the change shift area, limiting preparing time, implementing the Hot Seat Change Shift system. Meanwhile, to reduce the queue delay at KM 28 after changing the side dump truck parking position to be more flexible and determine 44 units on the road using the greenshields method, the queue delay at KM 28 PT MTL can be reduced from 1.85 hours/unit/day to 1.35 hours/unit/day with an increase in the UA value of 1.65% and PT BUMA reduced from 1.4 hours/unit/day to 1.25 hours/unit/day with an increase in UA of 0.58%. And in actual calculations, weighted coal also increased during the trial period from 24.928 tons/day to 26.535 tons/day for PT MTL and an increase from 19,665 tons/day to 20,194 tons/day for PT BUMA.
