Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of role-playing methods on the literacy skills of children aged 5-6 years in Ogan Ilir Pilot State Kindergarten. This study uses a quantitative research approach with a pre-experimental type with a One Shot Case Study design. The purposive sampling technique is class B aged 5-6 years totaling 16 children. Data collection techniques use observation and Posttest. Data analysis techniques use normality tests and T-tests. The results of data analysis using the T-test obtained a t_count value of 5.01 and in the t distribution table with a significance of 0.05 and degrees of freedom (dk) 15 so that a t_table value of 1.75 is obtained. Then the t_count value of 5.01 ≥ t_table 1.75 from the calculation results stated that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of the role-playing method on the literacy skills of children aged 5-6 years in Ogan Ilir Pilot State Kindergarten. Based on these findings, it is concluded that the role-playing method is effective in improving early childhood literacy skills. This study provides important implications for teachers to adopt an interactive learning approach in improving children's literacy interests and abilities.
