Abstract

Leaks in the formation or casing of an oil well are common issues that can lead to a decrease in well production. One way to address this issue is by performing squeeze cementing work. This research was conducted at Well XX, Layer N, Jambi Field, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan Zone 1 Jambi, with the aim of analyzing the effectiveness of the bradenhead placement method in improving well integrity and sealing leaks in the perforation interval of 978–981 meters.Well XX is a directional well with a total depth of 1,312 (mMD) and 1,157 (mTVD). The bradenhead placement method was chosen because it does not require additional tools and utilizes gel strength to prevent fluid contamination and maximize the results of squeeze cementing. The squeeze cementing process begins with the planning and calculation of the cement slurry to be injected, including additives and other fluids that serve as references for the execution. The calculations are then compared with field operational data to observe the differences and alignment between the plan and execution. The results of the squeeze cementing work show that the cement successfully sealed the perforation leak with an injection volume of 9.5 bbls and a spacer of 13.1 bbls. The additional chemicals used, such as accelerator (0.55 gallons), friction reducer (0.59 gallons), and fluid loss control (10.24 gallons), improved the performance of the cement in sealing the leak. The results of this study indicate that the bradenhead placement method is effective in sealing formation leaks at Well XX, although some adjustments were made in the field due to discrepancies between program data and actual field data caused by challenging formation conditions.
