Abstract

This research aims to analyze the utilization of the autobase account @collegemfs as a means to fulfill students' information needs regarding lectures and the satisfaction derived from obtaining that information as a response or effect of using the media chosen by the public. This research uses the Uses and Gratification theory by Herbert Blumer and Elihu Katz with a descriptive qualitative research method. This research discusses that the autobase @collegemfs is an online community centered around students as a forum for discussion and information seeking about the academic sphere. The autobase account @collegemfs, chosen by students of Sriwijaya University, is well-utilized for the process of information search through the submission of auto merfess via the website or Direct Message (DM), as well as through the search column of the @collegemfs account. The results of this study show that students at Sriwijaya University utilize the @collegemfs account for general academic information searches. Kemudian, dengan sifat anonim dari akun @collegenfs, mahasiswa merasa lebih bebas untuk bertanya dan menerima berbagai jawaban perspektif dari mahasiswa lain yang merespons pesan menfess, yang tentu saja memiliki informasi yang lebih luas dari pengalaman mereka. Users are encouraged to continuously seek information on that media repeatedly because they have an interest in their trust and judgment, which are considered capable of meeting their needs from the information obtained through the cantobase account @collegemfs.
