Abstract

Computational Thinking can play a role in the process of understanding and solving complex problems to be simpler by using computer concepts or ways of thinking. This study aims to see the response and learning outcomes of students on the application of Computational Thinking-based learning on Social Arithmetic material based on 4 indicators of Computational Thinking namely decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm. The research subjects were 30 students of class VII Junior High School number 56 Palembang. The data collection techniques used consisted of observation, tests, questionnaires and interviews. Based on the results of the study, students' responses to the Computational Thinking-based learning process on Social Arithmetic material were classified as Very Good with an average value of 87.45%. Based on the results of the study, students with high categories with scores above 83.72 were 6 students with a percentage of 20%, students with moderate categories with scores between 14.75 and 83.72 were 16 students with a percentage of 53.33% and students with low categories with scores below 14.75 there were 8 students with a percentage of 26.67%. Then based on the average percentage of each indicator, the computational thinking ability of students in the decomposition indicator is 54.44%, pattern recognition 46.67%, abstraction 50%, and algorithm 52.22% where the pattern recognition indicator becomes the indicator with the lowest percentage.
