Abstract
Folded plate foundation is an innovation of flat foundation, where both sides are equipped with length that form an angle. In this research, a 15 cm x 15 cm flat foundation is modeled as a folded plate foundation, a folded length of 15 cm with angles variations of 90º, 105º, 120º, 135º, and 150º. The folded plate foundation is analyzed through loading tests, to compare between the flat foundation and the folded plate foundation, and to determine the increase in load bearing capacity. The loading system involves a consolidated load as a load distributor and two LVDTs as a means of measuring the settlement in the foundation. The test was conducted on peat soil placed in a square tub made of 1 x 1 m concrete material. Furthermore, the tangent method and the mazurkiewicz method were applied to determine the Pu value of each angle variation, followed by finding the bearing capacity. The test results show that the qu value according to the tangent method for the flat foundation is 6.038 kN/m², while the 90º folded plate foundation is 6.927 kN/m², an increase of 14.73%. In the mazurkiewicz method, the qu values of the flat foundation and 90º folded plate foundation are 9.609 kN/m² and 10.847 kN/m², an increase of 12.879%. The qu value of the folded plate foundation increases as the angle increases, with the highest qu in the folded plate foundation with an angle of 150º, both tangent method and mazurkiewicz method, which are 9.075 kN/m² and 13.694 kN/m².
