Abstract
The implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) needs to be applied systematically with the existence of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS). Although there is a clear urgency regarding the implementation of OHSMS, contractor companies still experience obstacles to its implementation, which has the potential to increase the risk of work accidents. Based on the Social Security Administering Agency for Employment, the number of work accident cases in Indonesia continue to increase. This also does not escape the fact that South Sumatra as one of the provinces that continues to carry out construction has experienced 6,962 accident cases in 2023, which mostly occurred in Palembang City. It is important to pay special attention to the implementation of OHSMS by investigating the success factors and obstacles in the implementation of OHSMS in contractor companies in Palembang City. This research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to contractor companies in Palembang City. The results of the research were 10 main factors for the success of OHSMS implementation, one of which was a sufficient OHS budget and 10 main obstacles to OHSMS implementation, one of which was the lack of training on OHS.
