Abstract

One of the strategies for managing diabetes is diet. Implementation of a diet requires compliance so that blood sugar remains under control. Controlled blood sugar will reduce the risk of comorbid diseases due to diabetes. However, it turns out that there are several factors that are thought to influence diet compliance. Namely age, gender, income level, duration of suffering, education level, knowledge, attitude, family support, health worker support, stress factors, and self-acceptance. Therefore, this study will analyze the factors that influence compliance with the type II Diabetes Mellitus diet in the Kenanga Health Center Work Area, Bangka Regency. This study used a cross-sectional approach on 48 respondents with a sampling technique using a purposive sampling technique. The univariate results showed that most respondents had non-compliant diet compliance (80.0%%). The bivariate results analyzing the relationship between independen variables and diet compliance showed that the p value of age (1.000), gender (1.000), income level (0.037), duration of suffering (0.245), education level (0.272), knowledge (0.440), attitude (0.394), family support (0.097), health worker support (0.437), stress level (0.119), and self-acceptance (0.018). The multivariate results showed that there were three variables that most influenced diet compliance, namely income level (OR. 0.087), self-acceptance (OR. 0.000), and stress level in undergoing a diet (OR. 0.076). This study concluded that there was no relationship between age, gender, duration of suffering, education level, knowledge level, attitude level, family support, health worker support and stress in undergoing a diet with type II DM diet compliance. And there was a relationship between income level and self-acceptance with type II DM diet compliance and the factor that most influenced DM diet compliance was income level.
