Abstract

This study aims to develop an educational game-based learning media using Wordwall for teaching explanatory text writing to eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya integrated with google classroom as a medium for materials and writing, and Wordwall is focused on quizzes. The research employs a modified Borg & Gall development method combined with Alessi & Trollip's model. Data on educational needs were collected through interviews and questionnaires with students and teachers, revealing that explanatory text learning is often perceived as difficult due to unengaging teaching media and underutilized available facilities. The developed learning media includes Wordwall features such as interactive games, quizzes, and visually appealing animations to enhance student learning interest. Validation tests were conducted by experts in content, media, and language aspects. The results indicate that the media is highly feasible and falls under the "excellent" with a percentage of 94% for media validation, 97.5% for material validation, and 97.5% for language validation. The use of Wordwall as a learning medium through quizzes can improve students’ understanding of explanatory text material.
