Abstract

This study aims to explain how the application of parenting by single mothers in instilling religious and moral values in children aged 4-5 years in Simpang Agung Village, OKU Selatan. This qualitative research with a case study approach used observation, interviews and documentation to collect data. Data analysis was conducted through four stages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing with triangulation of techniques and time. The results showed that there were three parenting patterns applied, namely authoritarian, permissive, and democratic. Democratic parenting is more dominant and effective in instilling religious and moral values. Mothers who apply this pattern involve children in religious activities, provide examples of behavior, and build open communication. Permissive parenting is more lax in rules, while authoritarian parenting emphasizes strict rules and punishment. Overall, democratic parenting is more effective in instilling religious and moral values. Keywords: parenting style; single mother, religious values; moral values, 4-5 years old children.
