Abstract
The purpose of this study was to see the effect of using syllable Flashcard media on the reading ability of children aged 5-6 years at TK IT Izzuddin Palembang. This study is a quantitative study with a Pre-Experimental design, with a design form using one group pretest-posttest design. The sample of this study was 14 children in class B1 of TK IT Izzuddin Palembang. The data collection techniques used were tests, observations and documentation. The data analysis technique used by researchers in the study was using normality tests and t-test hypothesis tests. The results of the study showed the effect of using syllable Flashcard media on children's reading ability as seen from the results of the average posttest score which was greater, namely 89.2857 compared to the pretest score, namely 61.2857 and the paired sample t-test with a result of 0.001 <0.05. The use of syllable Flashcard media has proven effective in improving children's reading ability. In addition, the media used can not only hone reading skills but also children's fine motor and cognitive abilities. Keywords: media Flashcard; reading skills; early childhood
