Abstract

The use of social media as a promotional tool is increasingly used in various sectors, including education. PKBM Barokah Lubuklinggau utilizes Instagram as a medium for disseminating information to attract prospective PAUD students. According to the Data Pokok Pendidikan, the number of students at PAUD Barokah is in the 4th position out of 5 PAUDs in West Lubuklinggau District 1. This study aims to analyze the effect of using Instagram social media on meeting the information needs of prospective parents of students. The research method used is quantitative with the Uses and Gratifications approach, and uses data analysis with Smart-PLS. After the data is analyzed, the results show that the quality of information presented on Instagram @pkbmbarokahllg has a strong influence on fulfilling the information needs of followers. This is evidenced by the results of the analysis which shows a very significant relationship between the two variables. Factors such as relevance, attractiveness, and ease of sharing information are important aspects in attracting prospective students. Therefore, the optimization of content strategy and interaction with the audience needs to be improved so that Instagram becomes a more effective communication medium in education promotion.
