Abstract

The bread industry workers in the production division rely on muscle strength in every stage of their work, which puts them at high risk of experiencing MSDs complaints. Activities such as kneading dough, shaping bread, lifting trays, and standing for long hours can exert excessive pressure on muscles and joints, increasing the risk of MSDs complaints.. This research aims to analyze the relationship between individual factors and work factors with MSDs complaints on bread industry workers in the production division at West Prabumulih district of Prabumulih City. The method of this research is cross cross-sectional design with sixty-one samples using a total sampling technique. The data analysis was univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. The result of this research used Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaires on the bread industry workers in the production division showing that the MSDs complaints are considered as severe if it is 54,1% and and mild if it is 45,9%. The bivariate research result shows that there is a relation between age (p=0,01), working duration (p=0,002), working posture (p=0,000), and workload p/0,001). But, there is no relation between gender (p=0,416) and work duration (p=0,617). To minimize the risk of MSDs, workers are advised to perform regular stretching during work breaks, and industry management is encouraged to make ergonomic adjustments to high-risk workstations.
