Abstract
Tofu production generates significant waste with high nutritional value but excessive moisture (84.5%), leading to rapid spoilage as animal feed. This study evaluated water content reduction and rice bran addition (6.9-7.7%) on dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), pH level, and fresh and dry matter loss of tofu waste silage. The study used randomized completely design with four treatments: P1 (Tofu waste, control), P2 (Pressed tofu waste), P3 (Pressed tofu waste + 6,9% rice bran), P4 (Pressed tofu waste + 14,16% rice bran). Results showed that treatments significantly (P<0,01) affected DM, OM, pH level of tofu waste silage. Treatment of P4 resulted optimal silage with highest DM (27.89%) and OM (26.58%) content with 4,42–4,75 of pH level. The P2 treatment had the highest level of DM content reduction (1,45%). The lowest DM losses was in P3 treatment while the highest fresh matter loses was in P1. The study confirms that water reduction coupled with 7.7% rice bran addition effectively improved quality of tofu waste silage reduced DM losses.
