Abstract

The increasing demand for food has driven innovation in sustainable agricultural technology, one of which is the use of greenhouses to control plant growth environments. This study examines the effect of DC voltage variation on the growth of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) in a solar-powered greenhouse. The system uses solar panels as the main energy source, with a fan for temperature regulation and a DC pump for automatic irrigation. Eight voltage variations (1V, 1.5V, 2V, 2.5V, 3V, 3.5V, 4V, and 4.5V) and one control group were used, with observations focused on plant height and leaf width. Results showed that a 4V treatment produced the shortest plants (16 cm), while the control group resulted in the tallest (21.7 cm). The widest leaf width was observed at 1.5V (10 cm). Lower voltages (<4V) tended to support better early-stage plant growth. The system’s daily energy requirement of 68.189 Wh was met by solar panels generating 87.85 Wh, demonstrating the efficiency and energy independence of the system through the use of renewable energy sources.
