Abstract

This research aims to prove the effect of using e-commerce on the consumptive behavior of 2021 students in the Economic Education Study Program at Sriwijaya University. This research is a quantitative study with a causal associative research type. The population of this study were students of class 2021 in the Economics Education Study Program which included the Indralaya class and the Palembang class, totaling 75 students. Sampling in this study used a total sampling technique in which all members of the population were sampled, totaling 75 students. Data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires, interviews, and observations. Data analysis uses prerequisite tests, namely the normality and linearity tests of simple regression; and hypothesis testing includes product moment correlation, coefficient of determination, and t-test. The results showed that the e-commerce usage data obtained was categorized as high with a percentage of 80% and the consumptive behavior data obtained was categorized as moderate with a percentage of 73%. Data analysis using the t test shows that the tcount is greater than the t table or 6.15 ≥ 1.66, so it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, and it can be concluded that there is an effect of the use of E-commerce on the consumptive behavior of students in the 2021 batch of Economic Education, Sriwijaya University. It is recommended for students to increase their awareness and understanding of the influence of e-commerce use by being more selective and rational in making purchases so as not to be trapped in consumptive behavior.
