Abstract

Burns are an emergency problem that can occur anywhere and anytime. One of the causes of the increased risk of morbidity and mortality due to burns is inappropriate knowledge and first aid principles. This study aims to determine the knowledge of Sriwijaya University students about first aid for burns. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive analytic design. The sample of this study was 254 students who were taken using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire regarding knowledge of first aid for burns distributed via a google form link. The results showed that 39.4% of students had poor knowledge, 31.5% of students had good knowledge, and 29.1% of students had sufficient knowledge. In general, the knowledge of non-health students is generally poor. Several things related to this are faculty origin and sources of information, and socio-cultural habits. Therefore, interventions are needed to improve students' knowledge about first aid for burns by considering these factors. Keywords: Burn, First Aid, Knowledge, Students Bibliografy: 87 (2015-2025)
