Abstract
Workplaces, particularly in the palm oil industry, are one of the contributors to worker accidents in indonesia. The main factors contributing to workplace accidents are unsafe actions by workers, which are influenced by their length of service, knowledge, attitude toward the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and supervision. This study aimed to analyze the factors associated with unsafe actions among workers in the palm oil production plant at PT Sri Andal Lestari in Tanjung Laut Village, Banyuasin District. The research method employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, and data collection wass conducted using a questionnaire. The sample was selected using total sampling with 40 respondents. The data obtained were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. The univariate results showed that 37.5% of respondents engaged in unsafe actions and 62.5% engaged in safe actions. Bivariate results showed a significant association between work experience (p-value = 0.004), knowledge (p-value = 0.003), and supervision (p-value = 0.002) with unsafe practices, but no significant association between attitude (p-value = 1.00) and use of PPE (p-value = 0.545) with unsafe practices. It can be concluded that work experience, knowledge, and supervision are important factors that need to be considered in efforts to reduce unsafe behavior in the workplace of a production factory. Therefore, it is recommended that workers adhere to procedures and behave safely while working. For companies, it is necessary to improve supervision systems and worker knowledge.
