Abstract
THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ACADEMIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (SIMAK) SERVICES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, FACULTY OF SOCIAL AND POLITICAL SCIENCES, SRIWIJAYA UNIVERSITY A scientific Thesis, July 2025 Rafflesia Adesty, supervised by Dr. Raniasa Putra, S.IP., M.Si and Dr. M. Nur Budiyanto, S.Sos., MPA This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Academic Information System (SIMAK) services at the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sriwijaya University. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, referring to the theory of public service effectiveness proposed by Martani and Lubis, which consists of three key dimensions: resources, process, and target. The resource dimension includes the availability of competent human resources, technical readiness, and supporting infrastructure. The process dimension focuses on service procedures, system speed, and efficiency in meeting academic needs. Meanwhile, the target dimension assesses user satisfaction, system usability, and perceived benefits by students, lecturers, and staff. The findings indicate that SIMAK services are generally effective in supporting academic processes. However, challenges remain, including unstable network connections, limited training for operators, and the need for improved system features. Therefore, enhancing resources, optimizing service processes, and conducting regular evaluations are essential to improve the overall effectiveness of SIMAK.
