Abstract
Broiler chickens are fast-growing poultry with high nutritional needs to achieve optimal productivity. One effort to support digestive health and efficiency in broilers is through the use of feed additives. Additives such as probiotics and natural acidifiers derived from citrus waste can be used as alternatives to antibiotics in the diet, aiming to maintain gut health and reduce the workload on internal organs such as the liver, pancreas, and spleen. This research was conducted over a period of 6 weeks, from January to March 2025, at the experimental poultry house of Sriwijaya University. A total of 100 broiler chickens were used in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments consisted of: P0 (control), P1 (0.8% tetracycline + 0.8% citrus waste powder), P2 (0.8% tetracycline + 1.2% citrus waste powder), P3 (0.8% probiotic + 0.8% citrus waste powder), and P4 (0.8% probiotic + 1.2% citrus waste powder). The observed parameters were the percentage weights of the liver, pancreas, and spleen. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the addition of feed additives had no significant effect (P>0.05) on all parameters. The average liver weight ranged from 1.78% to 2.26%, pancreas from 0.17% to 0.27%, and spleen from 0.08% to 0.21%, all within the physiological normal range. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of a combination of probiotics and citrus waste powder in broiler diets is safe and does not have a negative impact on internal organs. This feed additive also has the potential to serve as a natural alternative to antibiotics in broiler poultry farming. Keywords: Acidifier, broiler chickens, citrus sinesis, internal organs, probiotics.
