Abstract

In the present time the use of water vapor is very broad everyday both in the household and industry. One of the tools capable of producing water vapor is a boiler. Boiler is a device used to convert water into steam by heating, where the heat source comes from the combustion of fuel in the combustion chamber. Steam is produced by the direct use of heat produced by buming solid, liquid, gas, heat, electricity or nuelear energy. Steam produetion must be able to meet the needs of the plant, so each component of the boiler must be in good condition, for that evaluation of the work performance of the boiler must be carried out, especially to determine the efficiency of the boiler. In the process of increasing the temperature or combustion, it is based on thermodynamic principles and heat transfer caused by differences in temperature, ffom low temperatures to high temperatures. The hot water vapor produced by the boiler is very important because it has the ability to store and free up large amounts of heat energy, move heat quickly, easily be distributed anywhere, the temperature is stable according to pressure, and easily regulated so as not to overheating. Furthermore, the water vapor produced by this boiler can be used for various purposes in industrial fields such as for power plants by flowing hot steam so that it moves the turbine or can also be used for sterilization because the steam produced also has high pressure. Boilers have 3 processing Systems which consist of: feed water system, steam System and fuel system. The feed water system provides water for the boiler automatically according to steam requirements. Various faucets are provided for maintenance and repair purposes. The steam system collects and Controls steam produetion in the boiler. Steam is flowed through the piping system to the user's point. In the whole system, steam pressure is regulated using a tap and monitored with a pressure monitor. The fuel system is all equipment used to provide fuel to xvu produce the heat needed. Equipment needed in the fuel system depends on the type of fuel used in the system. In this study, the efficiency calculation is done by varying the steam capacity produced by the steam boiler starting from 64.85 tons / hour, 67.32 tons / hour, 68.18 tons / hour, and 70.58 tons / hour. Where the steam capacity produced is directly proportional to the fuel consumed by the steam boiler, the higher the steam capacity produced by the boiler, the higher fuel consumption. The conclusion is that the highest efficiency is 84.905% at a steam capacity of 70.58 tons / hour. Keywords Citations : Steam Capacity, Fuel, Efficiency : 20(1926-2016)
