Abstract
be used as clean water in order to fulfil the daily needs, the importance of clean water availability becomes the main obstacle of the big cities in Indonesia and even in several developped countries in the world with high economy and industrial rate. The research using some sources that are used in the process of this skripsi making begun by leaming and understanding literature study such as taking data from various literature, joumals, references, and electronic media in order to get a new leaming method from the previous research, and doing observation study in order to get the data, such as examining and taking data from Chemical Engineering Laboratory Sriwijaya Polytechnic and Metallurgy Laboratory at Bangka Manufacture Polytechnic. In the making of Polietersulfon membrane by using polymer materials Polietersulfon that has grain shape by usingN,N-Dimethylformamide form solution with the addition of Silver Nitrate. The making of membrane uses three fraction in composition 20%, 22,5%, and 25%. Membrane solution is mixed according to each fraction. Then the stirring process is done by using Magnetic Stirrer for 6 hours until the solution becomes homogen. By using Flat Sheet method, too use glass mould to mold Polietersulfon membrane. Mechanical and morphological characteristics of Polietersulfon can be recognized by doing Tensile Test and microstructure Test on several membrane samples. On the tensile test, membrane samples consist of three samples on each composition fraction which makes the number of nine samples. Tensile test on each sample uses the tensile test device called Adhesion Tearing Strength Tester. On the microstructure test, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) device is used to see the pore measurement, void, and pore binding on membrane layer. The rensult of several membrane test si put into a chart and graph for tensile test and membrane morphology picture for microstructure test.
