Abstract

Aluminium is a metal that is widely used as raw material for lightweigh/ automotive components and easily processed into the desired shape. But while the benefits of the aluminium also has the disadvantage that is easy terdeformasi and hardness and low wear resistance, so it is not suitable for applications where conditions are to be rubbing against other components. Therefore, for the application of aluminium shou/d be increased hardness and the wear resistance. The re are several ways that can be used t o improve the properties - the properties ofone of t hem is the anodizing process. Anodizing aluminium surface engineering is the process that aims to provide a passive layer on the aluminium surface and can increase the thickness of the aluminium layer, where the anodizing coating process itself is a process offormation ofthe oxide layer on the metal or by reaeting a metal, especially aluminium corrosion with oxygen (O2) is taken from electolyte solu t ion of sulfuric acid (H^SOA is used as a medium, thereby forming a layer of oxide. h\tflis study conducted by the anodizing process gives the concentration of sulfuric acid ISOOml with immersion time 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes, and the electric current is 1.5 A, 3.5 A and 5.5 A. It is shown that with the addition of immersion time and the electric increase the thickness of the a/uminum layer. In this study, parameters that will be analyzed include : optimum values of thickness and hardness coating on aluminium by anodizing process with immersion time and the variation of electric current.
