Abstract
Pressure vessel (pressure vessel) is a closed tank t ha t is designed and used for fluid storaging with working pressure greater than atmospheric pressure . Pressure and high temperatures which are generated by the fluid inside the pressure vessel raises the voltage on the vessel wali Analysis of stress distribution in the pressure vessel needs to be done to detectate the areas with the greatest value of the voltage t ha t occurs in the head and shell components of the pressure vessel by using ASTM A285 Grade C as the material. Analysis was performed using the Software solidwork 2012 based on the finite elemen t method. The pressure 242 psi with the inside temperatur e of 40° C and 32° C outside temperature and the weight of the pressure vesse 6550 kg. Based on the result of simulation using solidwork 2012 resulting maximum voltage value 13617,467 psi exactly a t node 16774 in the pressure vessel shell. The voltage value is still under the permitted voltage limit which is equal to 34809.057psi. Key word: Pressure vessel, ASTM A285 Grade C, Stress Analysis, Element Method, Solidwork 2012
