Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of employee commitment and physical work environment on employee performance with job satisfaction as an intervening variable in the South Sumatra Provincial National Unity and Politics Agency. The population in this study was all employees of the South Sumatra Provincial National Unity and Politics Agency, and for sampling, this study used a saturated sampling technique, resulting in a sample size of 75 people. The analysis technique used in this study is Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results of the study prove that employee commitment improves performance both directly and through job satisfaction, while the physical work environment only has a direct effect on performance without involving job satisfaction. These findings indicate that commitment works through psychological channels, while the physical environment has a direct impact on productivity. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening employee commitment and providing an adequate physical work environment to enhance productivity. Practically, organizations need to focus on programs to strengthen employee commitment and improve physical facilities to create optimal working conditions. This study enriches the literature by demonstrating the distinct roles of these two variables, where the physical work environment is more instrumental in nature, while employee commitment influences performance through psychological aspects such as job satisfaction.
