Abstract

converted to heat, then the temperature generated in the cutting zone is very high. Heat generated during the machining process depends primarily on the type of cutting tool, workpiece material, and process parameters such as cutting speed, cutting depth and feeding motion. High temperatures in the cutting process have an important influence on the age of the tool and the integrity of the workpiece surface. Therefore, the analysis is needed to be done to determine the ejfect of cutting speed on the temperature distribution on cutting tool that occurs on turning using Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2016. Based on the simulation results obtained value of the temperature distribution in the process of turning for Al 2024-T3 along the 80 mm using a HSS-M2 tool where the cutting speed 84.83 mm / min produces a temperature of 31.8 °C, while the cut speed of 102.5 mm/minyields 34.6 °G and the cutting speed of 120.2 mm / min yields 41.2 °C Based on the result of the simulation that has been done, it is found that the faster of the cutting speed, the faster the temperature distribution on the cutting tool that flow from transient to reaches the steady State, where the cutting speed of 84.82 mm / min takes 13.25 seconds, while the cutting speed of 102.5 mm / min takes time 11.5 seconds, and the cutting speed of 120.2 mm / min takes 10.75 seconds.
