Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of hope in grit among participants of the state university re-admission selection. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a role of hope in grit among participants of the state university re-admission selection. The population of this study consisted of participants of the state university re-admission selection. The sample of this study was 210 participants of the state university re-admission selection. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling. The research instruments referred to the aspects of grit developed by Duckworth et al. (2007) and the components of hope from Snyder (2002). Data were analyzed using a simple regression technique. The results of the simple regression analysis between hope and grit showed an R square value of 0.310 with a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05), indicating that hope significantly contributes to grit with an effective contribution of 31%.
