Abstract

PT Petrokimia Gresik, as a subsidiary of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Perscro), plays an essential role in supporting national food security, particularly through the export of urea fertilizer to various countries. India has become one of its primary export markets due to the country's high demand for fertilizers in the agricultural sector. This study aims to identify and analyze the factors influencing PT Petrokimia Gresik's compctitive advantage in penetrating the Indian urea fertilizer market during the 2019-2023 period. The rescarch adopts a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, utilizing secondary data from official institutional reports and relevant academic references. The analytical framework is based on Michael Porter's Competitive Advantage theory, which includes four main pillars: factor conditions, demand conditions, related and supporting industries, and firm strategy, structure, and rivalry. Additionally, two supporting elements government policy and chance are considered in analyzing national competitiveness. The findings indicate that PT Petrokimia Gresik has maintained its competitive edge through consistent product quality, efficient production processes, and export strategies that are responsive to market dynamics. Despite fluctuations in export volume during the study period, the company has demonstrated stability and sustainability in reaching the Indian fertilizer market.
