Abstract

This research highlights the nature of learning algebra,illustrating the complexities associated with students’cognitive processes and communi- cation skills.By addressing students’challenges, developing appropriate instructional materials,and employing the commognitive framework,ed- ucators can significantly enhance the overall learning experience in alge- bra, fostering both conceptual understanding and critical reasoning.The research has described several critical dimensions regarding students’ dif- ficulties in learning algebra and their cognitive processes,along with the development of supportive instructional material sand the intricate rela- tionships between algebraic thinking and communications kills. Various challenges faced by students when learning algebra include difficulties in conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and critical reasoning;these difficulties manifest as gaps in their ability to articulate mathematical ideas and connect concepts effectively,as emphasized by the commognitive framework,which under scores the significance of communication in math- ematical understanding through various components,including word use, visual mediators,narratives,and routines. Additionally,the development of worksheets aim at enhancing students’conceptual understanding can take into account these components,providing structured opportunities for students to engage with algebra in a way that fosters clarity and crit- ical thought,ultimately bolstering their problem-solving strategies.
