Abstract
Palem putri seeds (Adonidia merrillii (Becc.) Becc.) is one of the Arecaceae family. The results of phytochemical screening showed positive to flavonoid and steroid compounds. It possess active compound as anti-inflammatory ability to inhibit COX and lipoxygenase. This study aims to determine the anti-inflammatory effects of nanoparticles ethanolic extract palem putri seeds in male wistar rats by inducing with carrageenan 1%. Ethanolic extract palem putri seeds preparation into nanoparticle dosage form using polymer PLGA and stabilizer PVA with double emulsion solvent evaporation method aims to improve the stability of it. Preparation formula in this study was done by varying the concentration of extract, 160 mg for F1, 80 mg for F2, and 40 mg for F3 with a result of percent efficiency encapsulation (%EE) value 88.533 ± 0.172, 73.853 ± 0.041, and 51.246 ± 0.386 respectively. The optimum formula obtained from the highest value of %EE. The analysis of average diameter, poly dispersity index (PDI), and zeta potential using particle size analyzer (PSA) are 169.122 nm, 0.068, and -8.6 mV respectively. Anti-inflammatory effects was done using white rats were divided into four treatment groups, namely control negative (PLGA + PVA), control positive (diclofenac sodium 0.82 mg/200 gBB), extract (dose 800 mg/kgBB), and test groups (optimum formula of nanoparticles). The result showed nanoparticle dosage form manage to increase anti-inflammatory effects which percent inhibition of inflammation is 55.672%.
