Abstract

The objectives of this research are I) to analyze the effect of original local income on regional development in Bengkulu, 2) to analyze the effect of balanced funds on regional development in Bengkulu, and 3) the effect of original local income and balanced funds on the level of independence of region in the city of Bengkulu. The results of this research shows that during the years 2005-2009 the effect of original local income against local expenditure is too low, then ratio of balanced funds are always increase every years, which means that the government of Bengkulu city has not been able to built the independence in the financing expenditure, whether it is routine or invest sourced from the original local income. This is also because of the number of local expenditure always increase in a quite large in every years. To increase the level of independence of region the city of Bengkulu, the authors suggest that the city government reduces the number of local expenditure, especially on the things that are routine and optimize the local revenue sources for fund local expenditure.
