Abstract
Diabetic retinopathy is the retinal damage in people with diabetes mellitus. Diabetic retinopathy sufferer can vision to decline until the sufferer is blind for a long time. Diabetes disease is characterized by the appearance of several disorders. Abnormalities that occur in the retina one of which is described by exudate. Exudate is the main sign of diabetic retinopathy caused by leakage and dilation of blood vessels around the retina. Exudate in the form of dots or spots that have a yellowish color with various shapes and fairly high contrast. In this final project research the authors conducted an exudate detection study using Fuzzy C-Means to diagnose diseases of the retina. In this study the authors used the DIARETDB1 dataset. the First convert the original image into a green channel, equalize the contrast with the imadjust function, then eliminate blood vessels using image morphology, eliminate optical discs using meshgrid. Next, for exudate detection process using Fuzzy C-Means with segmentation. Using this method, getting the average result for accuracy of 96.76% and specificity of 95.80%.
